03 — Who I Am
Systems thinker. Self-taught builder. I work at the intersection of infrastructure, networking, and the web — where things either hold up or they don't.
Built From
The Ground Up
I'm Seth Jarvis — a systems administrator and technical co-founder based in Hixton, WI. I didn't get here through a traditional path. Most of what I know, I built by doing: standing up servers, burning through configs, reading documentation at 2am, and figuring out why something stopped working.
That hands-on approach is what defines how I work. Every environment I've built, I've also maintained, debugged, and improved. I don't just deploy things — I own them end to end.
Where I
Operate
My technical home is Linux — specifically Fedora and RHEL environments where I manage everything from kernel tuning to user permissions to systemd service configurations. Above that sits a Proxmox virtualization layer, a segmented VLAN network, and multi-terabyte ZFS storage.
Outside of infrastructure, I've built web platforms from scratch, written automation in Python and Bash, and applied a Google-certified digital marketing background to connect technical execution with real business outcomes.
How I Work
Principle 01
Own It
End to End
I don't hand things off mid-build. If I deploy it, I understand every layer of it — from the hardware up through the application. That ownership means fewer surprises and faster recovery when things go wrong.
Principle 02
Build for
Reliability
Uptime isn't a feature — it's a baseline. Every architecture decision I make is evaluated through the lens of what happens when something fails, not just when it's working perfectly.
Principle 03
Keep
Learning
The stack I run today is more capable than what I ran a year ago. I stay current through active labs, self-directed study, and working toward certifications like CompTIA Network+ that formalize what I've already applied.
Career Path
Aug 2024 — Present
Co-Founder & Technical Lead
Confidential Media Venture
Architecting and operating the full technical stack for a media business — from hypervisor to network to web platform. This is where everything I've learned over the years runs in production, 24/7.
Feb 2025
Google Certificate
Digital Marketing & E-Commerce
Formalized the marketing and e-commerce knowledge I'd been applying in practice. Bridges the gap between infrastructure work and the business outcomes that infrastructure supports.
